Seeding Summary 2024 Season

As the 2024 Grow Hope season unfolds, dedicated farmers have been hard at work, bringing life to the fields with their commitment and passion. This year, the farmers have planted a variety of crops, each playing a vital role in supporting our mission to end global hunger. Here’s a look at the latest updates from the Grow Hope fields:

The Janzens: Sowing Wheat for a Greater Purpose

The Janzens, owners and operators of a grain farm in the Rosthern area, have always been motivated by a desire to make a difference. This year, in partnership with Eigenheim Mennonite Church, they have sown wheat for the Grow Hope project. By extending their impact beyond traditional farming practices, the Janzens aim to enhance the value of their work and contribute meaningfully to the fight against hunger.

The Holfelds and the Sieberts: A Team Effort in Main Centre

Chaun and Sara Holfeld, along with Dan and Carol Siebert, have teamed up to seed canola on a field near Main Centre, Saskatchewan. Despite being a week behind schedule due to much-needed rains, their spirits remain high. The recent rainfall provided a welcome reprieve from the dry conditions of the past few years. The Sieberts, who cherish their life and work in the Main Centre community, are deeply moved by their experiences, travels, and faith. Their involvement with Grow Hope Saskatchewan has further strengthened their commitment to bless others through this project.

The Hergotts: Answering the Call to Help

Brian and Michelle Hergott, who own and operate a grain farm west of Bruno, are sowing canola this year. For the Hergotts, Grow Hope is an answer to prayer. Brian has long expressed a desire to help others, and through farming, they found the best opportunity to give back. Their faith and dedication are evident in their continued support of Grow Hope.

The Schapperts and Aberhart Farms: Collaboration and Community

In Langenburg, SK, Roland and Cindy Schappert, in partnership with Aberhart Farms, are working together to support the Grow Hope Saskatchewan project. While the Schapperts provide the land, Aberhart Farms supplies the equipment and labor to grow the crop. Their shared passion for agriculture drives them to produce high-quality crops in an efficient and environmentally sustainable manner. Aberhart Farms, a family-owned business, embodies community values and aims to not only feed the world but also change it for the better.

The Sonntags: Dedication and Passion

Ian, Patrick, and Reg Sonntag, along with their families, operate a mixed farming operation with both grain and cattle in the Goodsoil area. This year, they have seeded oats. Despite facing delays due to wet conditions, they remain hopeful for a prosperous crop.

Each of these farmers embodies the spirit of Grow Hope Saskatchewan, working tirelessly to ensure that their efforts make a significant impact on food security worldwide. Their dedication and passion are truly inspiring, and we are grateful for their continued support.

Stay tuned for more updates as the season progresses, and remember, your support through sponsoring an acre or more makes all the difference. Together, we can cultivate a future where everyone has enough to eat.

The Prybylskis: Faith in Action

Josh and Janelle Prybylski, alongside Josh's dad Richard and other family members, run a 13,000-acre grain farm near Willowbrook, Saskatchewan. Their farm, previously involved with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, has recently renewed its participation through Grow Hope Saskatchewan.

The Prybylskis appreciate how the project unites different denominations for a common cause, viewing their involvement as an extension of their faith and a way to help those in need. Members of a Baptist church in Willowbrook, they have dedicated a portion of their land to support this initiative.

This growing season, Josh reported ideal conditions for seeding and a strong start for the crops, despite some waterlogged areas from recent rains. Overall, the crop looks promising.
